My overwhelming impression of St. Jude’s was that it was a place of real learning and nurturing. Over just a short period of two weeks I worked with wide-eyed preschoolers who had just a few words of English and then confident Standard Five girls who were entirely fluent in both English and Kiswahili. I watched cheeky little Standard Three boys hanging from the monkey bars at playtime and then working diligently on their computer projects after lunch. And always I witnessed their smiles – a sea of smiles! They were all happy in a safe and caring environment which as any educator knows is the key to learning. St. Jude’s is really making a difference to the lives of children who go there.
About Us
How Are We Funded?

Sponsors and Donors

It is only thanks to our hundreds of supporters that we are able to expand and make all our dreams and future projects a reality.

During 2010, AU$ 6 million was contributed to run and further expand The School of St Jude. The money received came from two sources:

 1. Sponsors of Students, Teachers, Buses and Boarding Rooms

As the school receives almost no financial support from any government body, we rely totally on sponsors for running costs (including maintenance of all buildings and equipment) for all schools and boarding campuses. Over 90% of our sponsors are Australian.

Following is a breakdown of the amount of sponsorships received in 2010:

  •    AU$ 2.6 million from Australian sponsors
  •    AU$ 0.2 million from non-Australian sponsors
  •

 2. Donors

Donations have helped to buy water tanks, electrical lines, school buses, all furniture and equipment for boarding houses, dining halls, classrooms, administration equipment and all the bricks, steel, glass and cement for actual construction.

It is the donations that make the difference between an average school and a school where the students are obtaining some of the best academic results in the country.

Following is a breakdown of the amount of donations received in 2010:

  •    AU$ 2.9 million from Australian donors
  •    AU$ 0.3 million from non-Australian donors
