Dear All at Rotary Club of Taree,

In my life, I’m blessed to meet a lot of special people and hear a lot of special stories every day.

When I first started The School of St Jude all those years ago, I’ll be honest, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. The truth is, it’s a lot of hard work. Almost 2000 students, more than 300 employees and countless families rely on our school for their livelihoods and futures.

Thinking about those numbers sometimes keeps me up at night. But it seems that whenever I am close to feeling overwhelmed I meet one of the people behind those numbers and I am reminded of why this is all worth it.

Single mother-of-two Tumaini was one of those people. As a parent, Tumaini’s secret feelings of stress and silent worries of inadequacy are something many of us can relate to.

Tumaini wants the same choices and chances for her children as I do for mine. The difference is that providing her children with opportunities is not a simple matter of choice. Tumaini earns less than $2 a day selling street food in Arusha. Affording education seemed impossible until we gave her oldest daughter Upendo a life-changing opportunity at St Jude's.

You can read Tumaini’s inspiring story online here.

I’m hearing a lot of stories like Tumaini’s right now, as we select 150 new students to start at St Jude’s next year. As a St Jude’s sponsor, you already understand the enormous difference sponsorship makes to the lives of our students, staff and community. Please help create change for more families like Tumaini’s by forwarding this email to your friends and family.

By spreading the word about the amazing impact of St Jude’s sponsorship, you can help give the gift of a lifetime to even more children like Upendo and hard-working parents like Tumaini.

Thank you for your support,

Gemma

P.S. Enjoy these beautiful photos of the student selection process for our 150 new students in 2016.
