Lukamai Laizer - Head Guard

(Translated) I started working at St Jude's in April 2004. In 2008, I was promoted to Head Guard at Moshono Campus. I have great pleasure working at St Jude's because if there is problem, there is help from others. Here at St Jude's, we work as a team and we support each other. I am proud and happy to work for a school that is educating the poor children of my country.
About Us

How To Fundraise

Fundraising is something EVERYONE can help with – it can be as simple as passing around the hat at your workplace to collect a few coins or as grand and as extravagant as a masquerade ball.

It's totally up to you how big or small you want to make it! Just remember every dollar counts and word of mouth is a powerful tool – every little bit you do will make such a difference to the St Jude's family!

If you don't have time to organise an event, why not attend one in your local area – see the St Jude's Calendar of Events for more information.

If you are ready to fundraise for St Jude's, get started by downloading our fundraising kit and registering your event with us

Our fundraising kit is a step by step guide for you to use as you prepare for your event. It explains:

1. What you can fundraise for
2. Registering your event
3. Tools for you to use
4. How to promote your event
5. How to deposit your funds
6. Contact details
7. Terms and conditions

Step 1 - What can I fundraise for?

With over 1,600 students, 1,000 boarders and 400 staff there are so many areas of need at St Jude’s! You can choose to direct your fundraising efforts to any of the following areas:

  • Bus maintenance
  • School uniforms
  • General Maintenance
  • Teaching Resources
  • Food
  • Uniforms

So your first step is to decide which area you would like to raise funds for!

Step 2 - Register your event

Download our registration form and after you complete it, please scan and email it to: info@schoolofstjude.co.tz with the subject: Application to Fundraise.

Step 3 - Tools for you to use

We have a range of things to help you host a successful fundraising event. From ready-to-go presentations, images, logo, DVD, brochures and our fact sheet. When you register your event with us, just indicate what resources you will need.

Merchandise

If you are based in Australia we currently have distributors located in Melbourne and Brisbane, who can post these to you. We will supply you with a price list that includes the costs involved to post these items to you.

If you are based in areas outside of Australia we suggest during your event that you promote the fact that there are many St Jude's items available for purchase at our Online Store. The sale of all these items support St Jude's!
Items available for purchase include:
  • St Jude's T-Shirt
  • Gemma's Book
  • Caps
  • Beanies
  • St Jude's Kanga Bags in library and sling styles
  • St Jude's "My First Day" Children's Book
Visit our Online Store to take a look.

Step 4 - How to promote your event

In our fundraising kit we’ll give you a list of ideas to help promote your event. From contacting your local press to utlising popular social networking sites.

Go Fundraise

In the past we have had some fundraisers who set up a page through Go Fundraise. The School of St Jude page on the Go Fundraise website allows you to link your own personalised page and share this link with family, friends, colleagues etc so everyone can see how you are tracking to reach your target.

Step 5 - How to deposit your funds

Deposit all monies collected at your event using one of the following options:

By Direct Deposit

To make a direct deposit to St Jude's Australian bank account:

Bank Name: National Australia Bank
Account Name: Rotary Australia Overseas Aid Fund Eastern Region St Judes School
BSB: 082-183
Account Number: 187882479

If you choose this option, please include your full name as the transaction reference. Also please email us at accounts1@schoolofstjude.co.tz to advise the date and amount of the transaction(s). Both of these actions help us to identify deposits into the bank account and to allocate the money correctly.

By Cheque

Please make your cheque out to:
Rotary Australia Overseas Aid Fund - Eastern Region - St Judes School

And mail to:
The School of St Jude
Australian Financial Coordinator
PO Box 82
Kew East VIC 3102

Please include a note advising the following:
a. Your (or the donors) full name
b. The postal address of the donor
c. The email address of the donor
d. A message to say what the money is to be used for

Issuing Tax Deductible Receipts

Quite often many people may request to receive a tax deductable receipt for their donation. Although you are not able to issue one on the spot, you do have the ability to collect their details and inform them that their information will be entered into a spreadsheet and sent to the Accounts Team at St Jude's. They will then be issued with their tax deductible receipt at the end of that financial year.

Fill in the "Issue me with a tax receipt" Excel spreadsheet included with your Approval to Fundraise email. Complete the necessary information when collecting donations at your event, showing the donor's full name, postal address, email address and amount of the donation.

Please email the spreadsheet to: accounts1@schoolofstjude.co.tz to advise the date and amount of the transactions when they are deposited.

And finally

THANK YOU for making such a big effort in the fight against poverty through education. For any questions that you may have or suggestions on important information that you feel we should include in our fundraising information please email
