Gordon and Elizabeth Mor & Family (Qld, Australia) - Supporters
I first heard of the amazing work that Gemma Sisia and others were doing at The School of St. Jude about seven years ago. A charity group, the Order of St Lazarus, that I am involved with started to support the school and I have continued this support. In 2003 Gemma came to Brisbane and talked to some members of the Order. In 2004 my wife and I visited the school in Tanzania. We were amazed. When I suggested to my family last year that instead of receiving Christmas presents we contribute to The School of St. Jude, they all were delighted and felt very privileged to be associated with such a project.

Ken Goodman - Our Oldest Sponsor

Ken Goodman celebrates his 97th birthday

Our oldest sponsor Ken Goodman (New Zealand) died peacefully on Monday 6th July 2009.  Ken is pictured above celebrating his 97th birthday on the 23rd February 2009.

A pedagogue by training and nature, Ken endeared himself to many in his latter years in Auckland.  Constantly learning, he was always amazed at what he could discover on Google, a technology he adopted in his late 80’s. One of Ken’s singular triumphs was passing his driver’s licence for his 96th birthday.

He bequeathed his body to medical science.

Sadly missed by Roger (son), Hilary (daughter-in-law), grandsons, Nicholas Christopher and Jonathan, and the many, many people whose lives he touched during his long and distinguished life.

Ken had been sponsoring Bahati Sadiki in Standard/Class 4 since 2005.  In 2008, Ken arranged to secure the commitment he made to sponsor Bahati’s education at St Jude’s by entrusting her sponsorship to his son Roger.

The St Jude's community extends its condolences to Ken's family and friends.
