IT Manager
WORK STATION: Arusha, Tanzania
The IT manager is responsible for large academic and office network of over 400 computers. We currently have an IT team of eight, which is a mix of western volunteers and Tanzanian staff. The IT Manager is responsible for managing budget and team workloads, as well as planning overall IT strategy. Due to the size of the team, and the intention to train Tanzanian staff to take up these roles, this position is very "hands on".

Key Responsibilities:
· Design, installation and operation of Local Area Networks and relevant Wide Area Network technologies
· Computer networking and performance monitoring, including relevant experience of intranet and internet service provision
· Computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques
· Analysis, Design, installation, configuration, management and Administration of LAN and WAN infrastructure and all Network Middleware Software
· Client /Server Hardware management
· Perform network troubleshooting and repair
· Document and communicate network related problems, solutions and the implementation process
· Monitor and maintain active network equipment for optimal network performance
· Develop and implement preventive maintenance plan for the network
· Review and update network configuration plan
Required Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or similar from a recognized University
· Certification in Networking, such as CCNA & MCP In Networks etc
· Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
· 3 years experience of managing an IT department including budget, staff and strategic planning, and administration
Skills:
· Technical writing skills
· Knowledge of current technological developments/trends
· Strong inter-personal and communication skills
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
