SHORT TERM - Professional Photographer

The School of St Jude is a charity funded School that provides FREE quality education to approximately 1,500 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. The School also provides employment to over 340 Tanzanian Staff creating an incredible ripple effect into the community.

We are seeking short term photographers to capture different aspects of life of our Students who live in boarding and our new Grade 1 Students as they begin their lives at St Jude's, in class, the playground and in other areas of the School - This is a four to six week assignment, available between 01 January 2012 – 01 March 2012.

This is an opportunity to be a part of fun, challenging and rewarding assignments that offer huge personal rewards as The School of St Jude itself is challenging the children of Tanzania to be well educated and thus improve the future for themselves and their families.

Skills:

  • An ability to work within a team and independently
  • An ability to work well independently as well as part of a team of Tanzanians and International volunteers
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills

To be a successful St Jude’s volunteers, you will:

  • Be flexible, open-minded, tolerant and appreciate the complexities of working in a rapidly growing charity in a developing country
  • Have a passion for our mission and a strong desire to make a positive difference performing a variety of tasks; from the mundane to the fun and interesting!
  • Work well independently and as part of a team of Tanzanian staff and international volunteers
  • Have good emotional and physical health and the energy and drive to take on new challenges

Stipend:

As this position is considered a short term volunteer opportunity, there is no stipend offered, however onsite accommodation at the school is provided. For further information regarding volunteering at The School of St Jude please refer to General Information about working at St Jude's
