With a fully functioning primary school and Secondary school and over 1300 determined Tanzanian students the St Jude's PE department is very busy. We have an opening for a Primary PE teacher and outdoor pursuits co-ordinator position for 2011, starting in early January. If you are looking for a challenge, fancy yourself living in Africa, are a qualified PE teacher with plenty of energy and a love of sports, then this position is for you! Co-ordinating Outdoor Pursuits in this amazing part of the world is a challenge and an adventure as you will find yourself surrounded by incredible places of geographic and cultural significance including Mt Kilimanjaro, The Great Rift Valley, Mt Meru, The Massai Steppe and the Ngorongoro Crater. All of these locations offer wonderful and convenient opportunities to lead trekking, hiking and mountain climbing trips with groups of students. It will be your privilege to introduce the students of St Jude’s to some of the spectacular landscapes their country offers.
In addition to a small weekly teaching load to some Upper Primary classes, you will be involved in organising and leading a variety of Outdoor Pursuits trips throughout the year, from 1 night to 7 nights away.
You will be working directly with a staff of Tanzanian teachers, reporting directly to a Tanzanian Headmaster and Deputy. This is an extremely unique working environment and the opportunity to be something very special.
If you are interested and looking for further information regarding working and living conditions then please email schoolofstjude@habari.co.tz
Please note, all international teachers are paid a small stipend per month which is enough to live on but not enough to travel around Africa on. Other information relating to what you can expect when you join the St Jude's team can be found in the General Information part of the Job Vacancies section of our website.
