Career Day 2025, breaks new ground!

Can you think of a time when organizing Career Day at St Jude’s was fully led by students? Well, it just happened, and it was nothing short of amazing. For the first time ever, Career Day at St Jude’s was fully organized by students, with the excitement on campus reaching new heights. Several O Level students, including Zahra, the Head Girl at St Jude’s Girls’ Secondary School, and Christina, the Assistant Head Girl, played a major role in making the event a success.

As part of the student committee, they took full responsibility for every detail, from planning the sessions and selecting the MC to organising the food logistics and managing guest hospitality. Students were in charge of making sure everything ran smoothly.

Themed “What is your Job in 2030s?”, the day featured professional guests grouped into seven clusters, including Arts, Health Sciences, Business, and Computer Science. In preparation for the event, the student committee gathered feedback from classmates based on last year’s Career Day. One common challenge that stood out was the limited time participants had with each guest, as they had to rotate between two separate clusters. To address this, students were asked to remain in the single cluster they selected, ensuring deeper engagement and more meaningful conversations with professionals in their area of interest.

Christina shares that, “One of the most engaging moments came during the Q&A session on Artificial Intelligence, where the biggest takeaway was ‘Human compassion can’t be replaced by AI.’ Students were reminded that the skills they build now must still be relevant and marketable by 2030.”

When asked what kind of career experience she wishes students to have, Zahra said, “I’d want them to understand the challenge of getting a job, even with a degree. We need to start preparing now.” Christina added, “Definitely, and Artificial Intelligence is reshaping industries everywhere, and we need to be ready for it.”

Together, we’ve set the bar high. Let’s keep the spirit of innovation alive and continue shaping tomorrow’s leaders. Know any fellow alum who’s doing something inspiring in their field? We’d love to hear their story! Reach out to us via alumni@schoolofstjude.co.tz or 0766200609
