On 30 September 2023, an electrifying sense of excitement and joy engulfed St Jude's Alumni Reunion. A remarkable 351 spirited alumni, each with their unique stories and journeys, descended upon the venue to celebrate the ties that had knit them together.
The reunion was held at St Jude’s Girls’ Secondary School, Moshono the place with a picturesque garden adorned with vibrant blossoms and towering trees. The air here is always perfumed with the scent of flowers, creating an atmosphere that whispers shared memories and a shared past. The event went well due to the preparation of the subcommittee members made up of alumni from the different graduating classes. We had lots of new activities that weren’t at our previous reunion, which made the event unique.
Out in the open, we had an array of sports, including football, basketball and volleyball. Some delved into the realms of video games, and virtual reality. Notably, Edward '19 was crowned the 2023 FIFA champion. The alumni's talents shone in these games, and memorable victories were celebrated. In the football match, two teams battled it out, with FC Panther emerging victorious, showcasing their talent and teamwork. The basketball court pulsed with energy and enthusiasm, and Team Tocho reigned supreme. The volleyball game was a dazzling spectacle, with players displaying their skills and coordination, and Team Kimbulu emerged as the champions.
For those opting for a more relaxed time, we had an arsenal of board games like cards, darts, and Jenga to keep them thoroughly entertained. The fun was so contagious that nobody wanted to leave the field. The day culminated in the cherished group photo, immortalizing a day brimming with camaraderie and unforgettable moments.
After the activities in the afternoon, as per St Jude’s tradition, we took a group photo.
This year, we introduced exciting networking circles. Fresh graduates gleaned wisdom from experienced alumni, while entrepreneurs seized the opportunity to showcase their products. It was more than just networking; it felt like a family reunion, with exchanges of experiences flowing endlessly. The networking circle resembled speed dating, with alumni forming two circles—one inside and the other outside. Everyone had just a minute to chat before the whistle ushered them to the next person.
Before the band hit the stage, Vivian, the Special Program Senior Manager recognized outstanding alumni through the Spirit Program. The night soared with enchanting music, food and an array of drinks, setting the scene for dancing and jubilation—a night etched in memory.
The night ended on a high note with beautiful music from the band, creating the perfect atmosphere for dancing and celebration. It was a night to remember, and the alumni went home happy wishing the reunion was every day. We would like to thank the subcommittee members who volunteered their time, talents, and energy as well as the alumni who showed up for the event as it would not have been successful without you all.
