"To whom much is given, much is expected." For Long'ida, Class of 2025 and co-founder of Big Idea Organization (BIO), this isn't just a Bible verse; it's a calling. These words came to life on 20 December 2025, as St Jude's alumni united to support children at the Save Africa Orphanage Centre through a charity visit organized by BIO.
A total of 23 alumni from the Classes of 2023, 2024 and 2025 participated, dedicating their time to serving. Beyond organizing donations, they spent the day engaging directly with the children, playing games, cooking, leading Bible sessions, sharing stories and offering mentorship.
Together, the alumni raised TZS 830,000 and delivered essential supplies, including 50kg of maize, 25kg of rice, 25kg of beans, 20L of cooking oil, salt, soap, clothes and other requested items. The remaining funds were entrusted to the caretaker to meet additional needs. The caretaker's words revealed the true weight of this visit. Without this support, the holidays would have been uncertain for the children. But because alumni came, the holidays were not filled with worry, but with relief and joy.
This was more than charity. It was a reminder that even after graduation, St Jude's values don't fade. They grow.
It was proof that when alumni unite, they become a force that can lift communities, inspire current students, and restore dignity where it is needed most.
The impact of that day didn't end when the alumni left; it stayed in the smiles of the children, the gratitude of the caretakers, and the hearts of everyone who witnessed love in action.
As Long'ida shared, "The lives we touch along the way matter far more than any success we achieve." And indeed, that day, lives were touched.
