What happens when a child who was once given a scholarship grows up and returns to give another child the same chance?
In 2002, St Jude’s opened with just three students and one bold mission: to fight poverty through education. Today, that mission lives through more than 1,700 alumni, many of whom are bringing the story beautifully full circle
Meet some of the alumni who are making a difference to the next generation!
Brenda, Class of 2021, is completing her psychology degree at the United States International University in Kenya. She began sponsoring a student scholarship at St Jude’s in 2024. Refusing to walk the journey alone, Brenda invited her friends Abeli, Gift and Nasra to join her and together, the four now support a student to access the same life-changing opportunities they once received.
Anna, Class of 2015, was the “big sister” younger students could always count on. After teaching during her Community Service Year, she earned an accounting degree and became a Branch Accountant at Toyota Tanzania. In January 2025, she began sponsoring a student, living out the generosity St Jude’s first planted in her.
Judica, Class of 2015, joined St Jude’s in 2003, back when the school had only 120 students. She rose to become Head Girl, taught bookkeeping during her Community Service Year, earned her degree from the University of Dar es Salaam and now works at the Bank of Tanzania. Since 2022, she has sponsored a student at St Jude’s, visiting her, bringing small gifts and volunteering during Scholarship Application Days.
Their journeys may be different, but they share a powerful belief that the opportunity that changed their lives is worth passing on to others.
Once sponsored, they have now become sponsors. Once given hope, they are now giving it.
That is St Jude’s full circle.
Every alum can make a difference by sponsoring a scholarship, sharing their skills and experience through voluntary activities at the school or sharing St Jude’s story. The circle of support grows whenever one transformed life reaches back to transform another.
