When one sees a group of youth going out of their way to bring hope and happiness to others, one may wonder: What fuels their passion? For St Jude’s alumni, the answer lies in the values they embraced during their school years. Since its formation in 2015, the Alumni Association has made giving back a tradition.
In what can only be described as a whirlwind of generosity, 125 alumni raised TZS 1.3 million in just three days to support Kindness Orphanage Center in Kijenge. The money raised bought essential items such as rice, sugar, soap, and treats like biscuits and soda. These supplies, delivered by a group of 10 alumni, were met with joy and gratitude from the children at the orphanage.

Together, the alums and the children sang songs of thanksgiving and shared heartfelt moments. They also received blessings from the children, who prayed for their success. The Alumni Association has plans to make such outreach programs a biannual tradition, with projects scheduled for June and December.
“We proved that when we come together, we can achieve great things, even in a short time. The smiles on those children’s faces made it all worth it,” says Charles, Class of 2017.
