Youth Driving Change in Education and Mental Health

Think you are too young to make an impact? Meet Gideon and Irene, two dynamic alumni who are turning dreams into reality and empowering youth through their ventures. Let's dive into their amazing stories.
Gideon, Founder at Saitoti Samaritan Tuition Centre
Gideon, Class of 2015, founded the tuition center out of a passion for uplifting children. Inspired by his community, mentor Mr Desdery Tarimo, and self-employed role models, he started with six teachers in 2020 and expanded to 20 by 2024.
Gideon shares, "Supporting my team with the right tools and a positive environment is key. Training and resources ensure they feel valued and deliver quality results."
Despite challenges like electricity shortages, Gideon's centre has grown from 70 students in 2020 to over 500 in 2024. He believes in innovation and self-employment, saying, "Countless possibilities await us to transform our community."

Irene's Northern Hill Sober House
Irene, Class of 2017, co-founded Northern Hill Sober House with a friend who overcame addiction. Northern Hill thrived through community support and partnerships despite initial scepticism and logistical challenges. As the director of programs, she oversees a team providing emotional, mental, and spiritual support to residents. With a comprehensive care program, they promote sustainable recovery and empowerment.

Irene says, "We equip employees and residents with skills in critical thinking, entrepreneurship, and leadership through workshops twice a year."
With 68% of residents achieving sobriety, Northern Hill aims to expand its services and establish a vocational training center to empower even more individuals.
Gideon and Irene prove that young leaders can make a difference with innovation, entrepreneurship, and a commitment to learning. And so can you.
