Alumni Reunion Milestones

This year’s Alumni Reunion, a joyful gathering of graduates from 2015 onward, marked a truly historic moment. For the first time ever, alumni collectively contributed more than TZS2 million during the event. Their support demonstrated the immense power of shared purpose, that when St Jude’s alumni come together, they not only strengthen their community but also inspire the next generation to believe in what is possible.

“Seeing alumni contribute to support one another and to fund entrepreneurial ventures proves that our community is stronger when we invest in each other,” shared Charles, Chairperson of Alumni Nishike Mkono.

Funds raised from the reunion will directly support one alum entrepreneur through the Incubation Program, providing seed capital, mentorship and the opportunity to rebuild a life filled with hope. The chosen alum has faced significant health challenges that have affected his ability to secure employment. Thanks to the compassion of fellow alumni, he now has the chance to regain stability and pursue his dreams.

Alumni Nishike Mkono Milestones

At the heart of this spirit is Alumni Nishike Mkono, a dedicated support system where alumni can lean on one another, especially in times of need. In less than two years, Alumni Nishike Mkono has mobilised more than TZS16 million, creating meaningful impact within the alumni community.

These funds have not only helped cover health insurance for alumni but have also provided timely assistance to those facing personal or family emergencies, such as the loss of a loved one, demonstrating that this network is more than just financial.

To strengthen long-term sustainability, the group has adopted transparent and strategic resource management, including the establishment of a UTT Liquid Fund account. This investment vehicle will allow alumni to save together, access support when facing unexpected challenges, and benefit from future returns.

The fund also extends support during positive milestones, including weddings and celebrations, fostering a culture where alumni can share both joy and sorrow together.

Alongside this, a joint NMB bank account was opened to ensure transparent and responsible fund management, upholding the community’s values of integrity and trust.

“The establishment of a Liquid Fund and a joint bank account shows that alumni giving isn’t just about generosity, it’s about creating sustainable systems that grow resources, ensure transparency and benefit members both now and in the future,” noted Suleiman (Class of ’15).

Alumni Nishike Mkono turns collective generosity into enduring support, helping members overcome hardships and celebrate life’s special moments. These milestones highlight not only the spirit of generosity but also the tangible impact alumni can create.
