Yasir joined The School of St Jude in 2018 at the age of 8. He is from the Nyamwezi tribe. The Nyamwezi, meaning “people of the moon” or “people of the west,” are a Bantu speaking ethnic group in Tanzania and the country’s second largest ethnic group after the Sukuma.
Their ancestral homeland spans parts of the Tabora, Singida, Shinyanga, and Katavi regions.
